What the Courses Demand
Every GPT distance is genuinely technical: sandstone slabs, stone staircases and rocky ridgelines through Gariwerd. It's tempting to think the answer is purely technical skill, but skill degrades fast once you're aerobically depleted.
The full crossing carries 7,700m of climbing over 162km, whether run continuously or across four staged days. Technical confidence you had fresh on day one has to still be there on day four, or hour twenty.
Across every distance and format, the goal is not simply to climb and descend well once. It is to keep doing it accurately as fatigue, weather and daylight change around you.
How Her Trails Prepares You
Each distance and format has its own progressive program, building the aerobic base that keeps technical skill reliable late in a long day, or across several of them.
Targeted climbing and descending sessions, back to back training for staged and relay formats, mandatory gear familiarity and night running preparation are built into training, not left for race week.
The programming goes beyond the sessions themselves, with in-depth guidance on pacing, fuelling, recovery, menstrual cycles, perimenopause and menopause, injury risk and adapting training around real life. Weekly live coaching calls give you a place to bring your own context, ask questions and work through when to maintain the plan, modify a session or step back.
