The UTA 11 is short in distance but rich in challenge. With 731 m of elevation gain, it weaves through forested escarpments, shaded stairs and rocky single track in the Blue Mountains. You will move along the Prince Henry Cliff Walk, descend the lush Fern Bower Track and Leura Forest, then climb the legendary Furber Steps to Scenic World.
Over 14 weeks, you will develop aerobic endurance, stair and hill strength, technical trail confidence and mental composure for the unique demands of this course. Each week builds with intention, blending running, strength and recovery so you can move efficiently, adapt confidently and finish strong.

The UTA 11 is the perfect introduction to trail runningβs beauty and challenge. This 11.5 km course through the Blue Mountains combines runnable escarpment paths, forest stairs and short technical descents. It rewards patience, pacing and presence and builds a foundation for future endurance adventures.
Across 14 weeks, our program helps you develop aerobic fitness, stair and hill strength, and the mindset to move efficiently from start to finish. Whether you are new to trails or refining your technique, you will learn how to train smart, listen to your body and run with confidence.

Your 14-Week Phase Structure
Prime to Build (Weeks 1β3): Establish rhythm, mobility and consistency. Begin stair and hill strength while learning to run by feel.
Build (Weeks 4β8): Increase aerobic fitness and introduce sustained efforts on undulating and stair-filled terrain.
Strengthen (Weeks 9β11): Extend endurance, practise efficient climbing and descending, and refine pacing and fuelling.
Sharpen and Taper (Weeks 12β14): Lower volume, maintain quality and prepare for race day with focus and control.

- β Strength for efficiency: Hip, glute and core integration to support climbing and stability.
