Training for the Surf Coast Century 100km

The Surf Coast Century 100km is a dynamic coastal ultra that combines runnable terrain with constantly changing trail conditions. The course begins on the sands of Anglesea Beach before moving along the Surf Coast Walk, through the Anglesea Heath, into inland Otway forest trails and back to the coastline for the final kilometres to the finish.

Across the 100km journey runners encounter a wide variety of terrain including beach running, coastal cliffs, forest singletrack and inland bush tracks. The course also includes sections of reef platforms and intertidal running along the coastline. :contentReference[oaicite:1]{index=1}

Throughout the program you will train specifically for the conditions runners face on this course:

• Beach and coastal terrain where sand efficiency matters
• Cliff-top trails exposed to wind along the Surf Coast Walk
• Clay 4WD tracks that can be loose or slippery if wet
• Flowing Otway forest singletrack through remote bushland
• Inland climbing sections through the Anglesea Heath
• Late-race beach running when fatigue is highest
