Buffalo Stampede 100km · 4-Team Relay (16 Weeks)

One of Australia’s most iconic mountain races, relentless climbs, granite descents, exposed ridge lines and alpine weather that tests every runner. In the 100km Relay, four athletes share this challenge: each leg unique, each demanding.

Over 16 Weeks: our Her Trails program prepares you for the physical, mental & logistical demands of racing as one team across Buffalo’s toughest terrain.

Built for the mountains, designed for the team

Each runner will face steep ascents, fast technical descents, and runnable high-country singletrack. This program doesn’t just build climbing legs and aerobic endurance, it prepares you for the handovers, the recovery windows, and the mindset of showing up strong when your team is counting on you.

Why train with Her Trails for Buffalo?

  • Leg-specific preparation: Sessions mirror the terrain you’ll face, steep uphill repeats, downhill conditioning, runnable trail strength.
  • Relay-ready focus: Practise pacing, fuelling and recovery for your leg, while building skills to support your team through transitions.
  • High-intensity intervals for mountain legs: Shorter, sharper sessions replicate the hard efforts of Buffalo’s climbs and descents, while long runs sustain the several-hour demands of each relay leg.
  • Heat & exposure awareness: Train strategies for late-March alpine conditions, hydration, sun management, and mental steadiness on open ridgelines.
  • Strength for descents: Bulletproof your quads and glutes for long, punishing downhills that decide this race.
  • Female-first design: Cycle-aware programming, nervous system support, and strategies for showing up when life-load is heavy.
  • Real-time coaching: Weekly live calls to troubleshoot training, sharpen strategy, and stay connected with others training for Buffalo.
