The Program

Built around the whole of your life

Whether you are stepping up to the trail half marathon distance for the first time or returning with more experience, this 12-week program builds your physical and mental capacity for climbing, technical terrain and longer efforts on uneven ground. The structure fits around your life, not the other way around.

If you have a specific race in mind, our intro content includes guidance on how to adapt your elevation and terrain training to match your goal. You will be guided by experts and connected with a community of women who understand the journey.

The program roll out: you will receive immediate access to all introductory materials and be welcomed into our Coaching Corner and Her Trails Community Hub. From there, each training week is released on the Saturday prior to the new week to support rhythm and progression.

This program is designed for runners who already have a steady training rhythm, feel confident running 60+ minutes with elevation, and want to layer in more intensity, speed work and race-specific preparation.

If you are rebuilding consistency, coming back from a break, or stepping onto trails for the first time, our Half Trail Marathon: Foundations program may be a better starting point.

Program Structure

12 weeks of progressive preparation

Weeks 1 to 3

Foundation

Aerobic base building, introductory trail runs, foundational strength and the habits that carry everything else.

02

Weeks 4 to 8

Build Phase

Climbing load, longer trail efforts, hill sessions and tempo work. Deload week included to absorb the training.

03

Weeks 9 to 11

Peak + Taper

Peak efforts and race simulation, followed by a structured taper to arrive at the start line fresh and ready.

Week 12

Race Week

Race day preparation, pacing strategy and warm up guidance to carry you to the finish line.
