What is included
4 day event accommodation
A place to stay in Rotorua across the race weekend, so you can focus on the course, not the logistics. Your group is based right around event HQ, in lakeside homes on Lake Tarawera and Lake Okareka, a short drive from the start and finish.
These are full holiday houses, not hotel rooms, open kitchens, real living spaces and lake views, so the stay feels like a big group house rather than a commercial one. Different homes suit different race starts, but all are set up the same way: comfortable, practical and built for a group that is there to train, eat, sleep and race together. Some have extra touches like a hot tub and outdoor dining area to unwind in after a big day on your feet. Your rate depends on how you choose to stay, sharing a bed, sharing a room or a room of your own, not on which house you land in. Either way, you are staying with your Tarawera cohort under the same roof, training, eating and celebrating together.
Transport
From airport to your accommodation, and coordinating support so you are where you need to be for race start & from finish.
HT race weekend support
Her Trails crew on the ground in Rotorua, from race morning through to your finish.
Shake-out run & recovery celebrations
An easy shake-out run before race day, and time together to celebrate once you have crossed the finish.
Coached Week 17 long run
A coach-led long run on course terrain, timed to your peak training block, to rehearse pacing and race-day systems before the taper.
HT hoodie
A Her Trails hoodie to keep, marking your place in the first 2027 Pinnacle Community Race.
Know before you go
Race weekend, mapped out
Tarawera is not a race where everyone starts and finishes in the same place. Here is what to know ahead of race week.
When to arrive
Thursday to Monday
Our accommodation begins Thursday 11 February, when check-in and the expo open at Village Green. We recommend arriving Wednesday afternoon or Thursday morning, so you have time to settle before check-in continues through Friday. T102 athletes can still be on course Sunday, so we recommend booking through to Monday rather than Sunday.
The hub
Village Green, Rotorua lakefront
Check-in, the expo, drop bags, most athlete buses and the finish all happen here. Our accommodation and group plans are built around staying close to the lakefront, so race morning has fewer moving parts.
Race morning
Different start, same finish
T50 starts at Te Puia, T21 starts at Lake Tikitapu, and T102 starts around an hour away in Kawerau. Athlete buses run from central Rotorua, with published 2027 shuttle prices of NZ$10 for T21/T50 and NZ$20 for the T102. All distances finish back at the lakefront.
Check-in
Bring photo ID, sort it early
Race packs are not posted ahead of time. You collect your own, with photo ID, at Village Green. We aim to have Her Trails athletes checked in and organised before race morning wherever possible, so nothing is left to the last minute.
If they're coming too
What spectators can and can't do
Spectators can't drive to every aid station. The event runs dedicated spectator buses, and some course sections are closed to private vehicles. T14 and T21 athletes can't receive material support from spectators on course, worth knowing before family build a big race-day plan.
Download the official Tarawera Ultra-Trail by UTMB app before you travel. It carries the current schedule, course maps and race information, and it's useful for anyone following you from home too.

Securing your place
A 30% deposit secures your place in the group. The remaining balance is then split across a simple instalment plan running through to race week, so the full amount is never due at once.
Your Pinnacle Event price is for the whole weekend as one package. It stays the same whether you use every inclusion or only some of them, so the group can be booked, planned and supported together without individual add-ons or subtractions along the way. Estimates above, confirmed when you get in touch.
What this actually is
This is not a tour package
A tour operator can book your accommodation and organise your transfers. That is useful, but it is not what the Pinnacle Event is for.
The Pinnacle Event connects the things that actually matter to a runner: the training block you have put in, the coaching that got you here, the women you have trained alongside, shared accommodation, practical start-line logistics, support across the weekend, and crossing the finish at Village Green with your community there to see it. That is the difference between a package and an experience.
Bringing people along
Family and friends can join you
The Pinnacle Event Package is built for the athlete, and we can facilitate family members or friends who want to be there in Rotorua to support you. Let us know who is coming when you get in touch, and we will talk you through the options.

Frequently asked questions
How much does the Pinnacle Event Package cost?
Athletes sharing a room start at $920 AUD, with an own room from $1,390. Family or friends joining as support can share your bed from $440, or have their own bed from $680. Your price covers the whole weekend as one package. See the full pricing above, confirmed when you get in touch.
Is this available for every Tarawera distance?
Yes. The Pinnacle Event Package is open to athletes training for the T21, T50 and T102, all sharing the same race weekend in Rotorua on 13 February 2027.
How do I confirm my place?
Places are first in, best dressed. Fill in the form below to tell us your event, then email us directly and we will go through the options together and confirm your spot.
Can family or friends come with me?
Yes. We can facilitate family members or friends joining as support crew, sharing your bed or with a bed of their own. Tell us who is coming when you get in touch.
What is the coached Week 17 long run?
A coach-led long run on terrain that mirrors the course, scheduled in Week 17 of your program. It is your chance to rehearse pacing, fuelling and race-day systems with a coach alongside you before the taper begins.
Do I need to already be training with Her Trails?
To purchase the Pinnacle Event Package, you need to be an All-In Member or to have purchased the Tarawera program as a standalone. This does not apply to the family or friend place, though anyone joining who is not your partner or child cannot also be racing a Tarawera event themselves. Exceptions may apply, so please get in touch to discuss your situation.
How does payment work?
A 30% deposit secures your place. Payment details are sent by email once you have filled out the form below. From there we will work out a payment plan that suits you, with the full balance ideally paid by 30 December 2026.
If two athletes share a room, does each pay the sharing rate?
Yes. If you and another athlete are each happy to have your own bed but share a room, you each pay the sharing rate of $920 AUD. The $1,390 own room rate only applies if you want a room to yourself, with no one else in it.
